TED talks are among my favorite ways to procrastinate in the office (I really hope my boss isn’t reading this). If I am ever feeling short on inspiration, there will always be a talk that will spark that ‘eureka!’ moment.
Now, finally, I have come across this incredible TED Talk on change management, and more specifically, on the five ways to lead in an era of constant change.
Inspire through a sense of purpose and put people first are the underlying themes of the talk given by Jim Hemerling, the Boston Consulting Group’s point man for transformation and change.
A Change Idea Worth Spreading: Transforming Transformation
In the space of thirteen minutes, he succeeds in highlighting five of the best ways to lead in this modern era of constant changeconstant change. This incredible mental journey takes the viewer from an analogy on marathon running, to a story on the Lego company’s philosophy, straight into a humorous anecdote on the different skills needed to compete in a triathlon.
Finally Hemerling wraps it all up with his take on the value of the all-inclusive leadership style of the Golden State Warriors’ head coach, Steve Kerr.
